I know this sounds revolutionary to the whites in this country, because the majority of voters will be Africans. This makes the white man fear democracy. But this fear cannot be allowed to stand in the way of the only solution which will guarantee racial harmony and freedom for all. It is not true that the enfranchisement of all will result in racial domination. Political division, based on color, is entirely artificial and, when it disappears, so will the domination of one color group by another. Our struggle is a truly national one. It is a struggle of the African people, inspired by our own suffering and our own experience. It is a struggle for the right to live. Among free men the end cannot justify the means. We know the patterns of totalitarianism—the single political party, the control of schools, press, radio, the arts, the sciences, and the church to support autocratic authority; these are the age-old patterns against which men have struggled for 3, years.

These are the signs of reaction, retreat, and retrogression. The United Nations must hold fast to the heritage of freedom won by the struggle of its people; it must help us to pass it on to generations to come. So free men are the oppressed who go on trying and who in the process make themselves fit to bear the responsibilities and to uphold the disciplines which will maintain a free society. Among the basic freedoms to which men aspire that their lives might be full and uncramped, freedom from fear stands out as both a means and an end. A people who would build a nation in which strong, democratic institutions are firmly established as a guarantee against state-induced power must first learn to liberate their own minds from apathy and fear.

And some people are not. You see there is a major difference—and it remains a vital difference—between a friend and a gay person, a friend in office and a gay person in office. Gay people have been slandered nationwide. In Dade County, we were accused of child molestation. It is not enough anymore just to have friends represent us, no matter how good that friend may be. Our strike is stopping the work in the fields; our strike is stopping ships that would carry grapes; our strike is stopping the trucks that would carry the grapes. Our strike will stop every way the grower makes money until we have a union contract that guarantees us a fair share of the money he makes from our work! We are a union and we are strong and we are striking to force the growers to respect our strength! Why do leaders accept that for children in developing countries, only basic literacy is sufficient, when their own children do homework in algebra, mathematics, science, and physics?

Leaders must seize this opportunity to guarantee a free, quality, primary and secondary education for every child. Some will say this is impractical, or too expensive, or too hard. Or maybe even impossible. But it is time the world thinks bigger. Ads are prime persuasive writing examples. How dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus. These are only some of the possible organs that can be donated. In the United States today, people lose their lives to many different causes. Though this is tragic, there are also a large group of people who could benefit from these deaths; and those people are people in need of an organ transplant. Although a sudden or tragic death can be heart breaking to a family, they could feel some relief by using their loved ones' organs to save the lives of many others. This act of kindness, though, can only be done with consent of both the victim and the family; making the donation of organs happen much less than is needed.

The need for organs is growing every day, but the amount provided just is not keeping up. Because of the great lack of organ donors, the constant need for organs,. Over the years, organ donation challenges and demands increased inversely in proportion to the organ shortages. Dowd writes about her niece Jennifer donating organ to her uncle, Michael. She explains how her niece went through a complicated and risky surgery, and how strong and brave Jennifer has been to face them. She compares her braveness to undergo surgery like Xena the Warrior Princes. The author brings in awareness to Americans that there are thousands of people who need organ donors. This story was specifically for people who are scared and reluctant to donate organ for people who really needed them.

Dowd tells us how people refuse to mention even though they have signed up their donor card or mention their identity as an organ donor. Thesis Statement: Becoming an organ donor after death is not only an important decision for yourself, but it is also an important decision for the life that you may have the power to save. This field of study is quickly growing, but the people waiting for organs is also growing. Every ten minutes someone is added to the waiting list and, on average, 22 people die every day from not getting the organ they need. Around , people need an organ to save their lives. Out of those , people, only 75, people are active on the organ waiting list. In about 2, organ transplants have been performed so far.

They took records starting from January 1, to March 3, The waiting list has not declined over the years. When someone donates one organ, it can save up to eight lives. In , the amount of people who need an organ is 33, This is the highest amount ever recorded and is the new record. On March 5, , there has been 98, people waiting on a kidney. Organ donation has been a controversial topic for decades. This uncertainty stems from one major question; what is death?

While medical professions can define death strictly in terms of physiological cessation, individuals may have different beliefs based on their cultural, spiritual, and religious beliefs. These beliefs are often in opposition to organ donation, and they make it seem like the wrong thing to do. However, there is an enormous need for more organ donors because many people die waiting for a transplant. Whose needs are most important, the potential donor or the recipient? The present code of conduct regarding organ donation does. In a culture of death and self-centeredness it is important to prompt the youth to consider becoming an organ donor. The number of people in need of a transplant is growing quickly, and already is at a large rate.

Eighteen people will die each day waiting for an organ transplant; more must be done to help these people, yet it must be within the standards of medical ethics. As of November 30th, , , people formed the organ transplant waiting list. On average, twenty people on this list will die today. The number of people that need an organ transplant continues to grow; every ten minutes a new name is added to the list. According to the U. In order for a deceased person to give organs, the organs must still be alive to donate. Organ transplantation improved greatly over the last century, but with an insufficient amount of organs available, it limits breakthroughs.

In essence, new methods need to replace the unavailable organs. These methods drastically improve the process of organ transplantation, and in the future, the overall humans well-being.
